3.5mm Camcorder A/V Cable for ImmersionRC PowerPlay
3.5mm Camcorder A/V Cable for ImmersionRC PowerPlay
Couldn't load pickup availability
The ImmersionRC PowerPlay records straight to MicroSD, but it needs the right cable to actually talk to your camcorder. This is that cable, for camcorders with a small 3.5mm AV jack built in.
One end plugs into your camcorder, the other into the PowerPlay. Directional by design, so audio and video line up correctly without messing with the connector.

Questions
Do I need my camcorder for this to work?
Yes. The PowerPlay doesn't read tapes on its own, it plugs into your camcorder's AV output while the tape plays and records that output live. You'll still need a working camcorder with the tape in it, this replaces the tape deck's wear, not the camcorder itself.
Do I need the DVR too?
Yes, this cable connects your camcorder to the PowerPlay DVR, it doesn't work on its own. If you don't have the DVR yet, the Complete Kit (3.5mm) → below includes the DVR, batteries, and this cable together.
Do I need batteries?
Yes, 2x 18500 Li-ion batteries, AA won't work, not included with this cable. The Complete Kit (3.5mm) → includes the DVR, batteries, and this cable together.
How much does it cost to digitize old camcorder tapes?
Just the price of the DVR itself. Nothing recurring, no per-tape fee, no subscription. The process is genuinely simple: pop a MicroSD card in, press record, then play the tape on your camcorder, the PowerPlay captures the output as it plays. Do that once per tape, for as many tapes as you have, and that's it.
Which cable does my camcorder need?
Depends on your camcorder's AV output, see the cable finder above, this listing is the 3.5mm one.
My camcorder only has 2 RCA plugs, not 3, can I still use the 3-RCA cable?
Yes, but that's a different cable than this one. The 3-RCA cable works with both 2-channel and 3-channel RCA camcorders. See the 3-RCA cable → instead if that's what your camcorder needs.
Does this work with the Sony VX1000, VX2000, or VX2100?
Not this cable, those models need the 3-RCA version. See the 3-RCA cable → instead.
Does this work with Canon camcorders?
Yes. The Canon GL2, for example, has a small 3.5mm AV port, the same one Sony TRV900 owners need, this is the right cable for it.
How do I get the recorded video onto my computer?
The PowerPlay records straight to a MicroSD card (not included, we carry a compatible SanDisk card →) while the tape plays. To get those files onto a computer, put the card into any MicroSD-to-USB reader and copy them over, same as with a camera's memory card.
Is this the same PowerPlay used for FPV/drone racing?
Yes. ImmersionRC originally built the PowerPlay as a DVR + battery pack for FPV goggles, this is that same device. It works just as well as a camcorder tape digitizer, and still doubles as a charging battery pack for FPV goggles if that's your other setup too.
Is the ImmersionRC PowerPlay still available?
Yes. Realm carries it in stock. It can look discontinued because ImmersionRC itself closed in February 2026, newer units no longer have "ImmersionRC" printed on the case or boot screen, older stock still does, same hardware either way. The product is still made, by Orqa, who owned ImmersionRC since 2022 and kept building it after the shutdown. Full story →
